September LFR Newsletter 🌻

Welcome to the LFR Newsletter

Longmont Food Rescue’s mission is to redistribute nutritious food that retailers have deemed food ‘waste’ to feed hungry, homeless, and low-income populations directly.

Meet Our New Team Members!

We are thrilled to announce two new additions to our organization: Volunteer & Communications Coordinator Emma Welty and Board Member Caitlin Koryto.

Volunteer and Communications Coordinator: Emma Welty
In her previous work as an AmeriCorps Sustainability Coordinator, Emma managed both volunteers and communications at an organic farm site, and she recently completed her graduate program capstone project with Hunger Free Colorado. She has a passion for food access and equity, and we are so excited to welcome her to our team!

Board Member: Caitlin Koryto
Caitlin has been volunteering with LFR since May 2019, helping with our onsite parking lot distributions as well as rescuing thousands of pounds of food. Her dedication to our mission and grassroots action inspired her to get more involved this year, and we couldn’t be happier to have her on board! She will be bringing her skills in website/IT and design to our organization, and her enthusiasm for community work.

A Look Back at LFR’s Impact in 2021

In 2021, Longmont Food Rescue had another record-breaking year! We rescued more than 67,000 pounds of food, doubling our expected growth trajectory and exceeding the previous year’s yield by 28,000 pounds! That brought us to a grand total of 166,000+ pounds of food rescued since LFR’s founding in 2017.

Check out the full 2021 Impact Report on our website, and stay tuned for details of our 2022 Impact Report!
